Paper 1 baseline assessment learner response

 1) Type up your feedback in full (you do not need to write mark/grade if you do not wish to).

WWW: good effort, top understanding for Tatler CSP in relation to social and cultural contexts in British society.

Next steps : Add more detail / depth to receive top marks - see mark scheme - indicative content for more information.

2) Look at the mark scheme for this assessment. For Question 2 (12 mark unseen) use the indicative content in the mark scheme to identify three points that you could have referred to in your answer.

-Verbal codes: battle has connotations of fighting
-Non-verabl codes: Athletic body
-Brand Identity

3) For Question 3 (Galaxy - narrative features) use the mark scheme to write down the main narrative theories and how we can link them to the Galaxy advert CSP.

Propp's Character theory: Hero: Chauffer, Damsel-in-distress: Audrey Hepburn, Donor: Bus driver, Antagonist: fruit cart.
Todorov's Equilibrium theory: Equilibrium at the start with Audrey Hepburn in the bus, disequilibrium as the fruit cart falls over and blocks the bus from progressing, equilibrium re-established as Audrey Hepburn meets a chauffer and is offered a ride.
Binary opposition theory: men vs women, masculinity vs femininity

4) Now look at Question 4 - Tatler and social/cultural contexts. Use the mark scheme to identify three points you could have made in your answer here.

Typography: serif & sans serif : connotates formality
Mise-en-scene: Costume: ball gown
Camera shots: central image is a medium shot

5) On Section B, focus on Question 7 - film industry and Black Widow. Use the mark scheme to identify three ways Black Widow was marketed to its audience.

Star Power: Scarlett Johanson
Billboards, posters, teaser trailers
Tweets, Instagram posts, YouTube, tiktoks

6) Finally, write down three things you are going to work on before your next mock exam in December (e.g. time management; revising CSPs etc.)
I'll revise my CSPs and practice using flashcards for revision for definitions , I'll manage my time by dedicating specific intervals of my day to study and I'll do more of my media work at home.
